Septic Leach Field

Septic Leach Field Repair & Replacement in Tucson

For more than 65 years, Southern Arizona homeowners have trusted Rite Way to keep their homes safe, clean, and running smoothly. Your leach field, also called a drain field or soil treatment unit, is the underground part of your septic system that disperses treated wastewater safely into the ground. When it is working properly, your yard, your property, and local groundwater stay protected.

Many homes throughout Tucson and Southern Arizona rely on septic systems rather than municipal sewer connections. Because of this, a properly functioning leach field is essential for protecting your property, maintaining safe wastewater treatment, and preventing contamination of surrounding soil and groundwater.

A failing, saturated, or clogged leach field can cause sewage backups, foul odors, and major property damage. Our licensed septic experts provide fast, honest, and reliable leach field repair, maintenance, replacement, and new installation all backed by the Rite Way promise of integrity, quality workmanship, and exceptional customer care.

Our 12+ year-old water heater quit working and began leaking this past Sunday. Raul Robles from Rite Way Heating, Cooling & Plumbing came out that very same day to see if the unit was repairable. Unfortunately, it was not repairable. Raul clearly reviewed all of our options with us and provided us with estimates for each option. Two days later, Rite Way sent Raul back to us and he swapped out our old broken water heater and installed a brand new unit. Raul did an amazing job, especially since he was completely by himself and water heaters are not exactly lightweight. Rite Way specialists, like Raul Robles, always handle themselves professionally and leave us with a confident feeling that our heating, cooling and plumbing systems are in good hands.

I have never had this level of service from a service provider in my life. Ramon was excellent and very thorough especially since it was a very late and last minute service request on my part.

Update Sept 3 2026 - Now that it’s been a few days the A/C unit that was installed seems to be too excessive for my home. I have a townhouse and this unit is loud, huge (they had to carve out an extra 2 feet of space in my ceiling to fit it in), and is blasting the air through the vents making the whole system way too noisy. They came and turned the fan down which seemed to help a bit but apparently the airflow cannot be calmed down. I have to turn my tv audio way up every time it comes on, and that’s downstairs from the unit. Upstairs in the bedroom and in other rooms it’s much worse. A drywall expert is coming next to fix the ceiling around the unit, so while that may help with the noisy unit itself it doesn’t sound like there are options for the noisy airflow. Will update as things develop but for now it seems they installed a new A/C unit that’s just too much for my place. ————— Update August 2026 - called RiteWay again after more issues with my A/C Unit. Jered and his teammate were sent over to take a look. This time the issue was beyond fixing as my Unit is just too old. But Jered and his coworker did what they could to help for quite some time, and I appreciate the effort. Later it was Jay who came to assess and to go over my options and we settled on a system to be the replacement. Today it was Daxton and his team who came for the installation. Did a great job despite the rain for a good part of the morning, and needing to increase the “cabinet” in my ceiling to fit the unit. A lot of work done today and it all went very well. ————— Called these guys twice this year... first was for A/C service (where water was leaking thru my vents in the ceiling down to the carpet) back in July. Matt B was sent over, and he did a great job cleaning things and replacing the piping causing the dripping, on my system that really needed a good refresh. Then this week Greg was sent over to help with two issues in my bathroom, a leaky faucet and parts that needed replacement in the toilet. Again, both issues were addressed (faster than I expected) and have a nice new faucet and functioning toilet again. Both techs were great, friendly, and did a good job explaining the sources of the issues, and going over options. Much appreciation for helping with the fixes!

Leach Field Service & Preventative Maintenance

Routine septic tank and leach field maintenance helps keep your system healthy and extend its lifespan. Rite Way’s service includes:

  • Comprehensive leach field inspection
  • Soil absorption testing
  • Effluent level monitoring
  • Septic tank performance check
  • Early detection of hidden issues

Routine maintenance is one of the most effective ways to prevent premature leach field failure. Excess water usage, sludge buildup, and soil compaction can gradually reduce the system’s ability to absorb wastewater. Regular inspections allow potential problems to be identified early before they lead to costly repairs or system replacement.

Septic Leach Field Services FAQs

What are the most common signs that my leach field is failing?

Common signs include slow drains, foul sewage odors, standing water or soggy spots in the yard, unusually green grass over the leach field, and gurgling noises from your plumbing. If you notice any of these, schedule a Rite Way septic inspection right away.

In Southern Arizona, most properly installed and maintained leach fields last 40 years or more, depending on soil type, water usage, and maintenance habits. Regular pumping and professional inspections can significantly extend its lifespan.

Many leach fields can be repaired especially if the issue involves clogged lines, root intrusion, or minor soil saturation. If the system is severely damaged or the soil is oversaturated beyond recovery, a full replacement may be necessary.

Costs vary depending on system size, soil conditions, depth, and level of damage. Rite Way provides transparent, upfront pricing and a detailed estimate once we inspect your system and financing is available for larger projects.

We recommend a professional septic and leach field inspection once per year and septic tank pumping every 3–5 years, depending on usage. Regular service prevents costly repairs and keeps your system running safely.
