We recommend a professional septic and leach field inspection once per year and septic tank pumping every 3-5 years, depending on usage. Regular service prevents costly repairs and keeps your septic system operating safely and efficiently.
For more than 65 years, Southern Arizona homeowners have trusted Rite Way to keep their homes safe, clean, and running smoothly. When it comes to septic systems, your leach field plays a critical role in dispersing wastewater safely into the ground.
Many homes throughout Tucson and Southern Arizona rely on septic systems rather than municipal sewer connections. Because of this, a properly functioning leach field is essential for protecting your property, maintaining safe wastewater treatment, and preventing contamination of surrounding soil and groundwater.
A failing, saturated, or clogged leach field can cause sewage backups, foul odors, and major property damage. Our licensed septic experts provide fast, honest, and reliable leach field repair, maintenance, replacement, and new installation. All backed by the Rite Way promise of integrity, quality workmanship, and exceptional customer care.
Your leach field, also called a soil treatment unit or drain field, is the underground portion of a septic system that distributes treated wastewater into the surrounding soil. When it is functioning properly, the soil naturally filters and treats the water, helping protect your home, your yard, and local groundwater.
Over time, factors such as soil saturation, clogged pipes, root intrusion, or system overload can interfere with this process. When wastewater can no longer disperse properly, problems like slow drains, sewage odors, and wet areas in the yard may begin to appear.
When it fails, you need a team that responds quickly and does the job the Rite Way.
If you are noticing soggy areas in your yard, slow drains, sewage odors, or unusually green patches of grass near your septic system, your leach field may be compromised.
Common Leach Field Issues We Fix
Our team uses advanced diagnostics to identify the root cause of the problem rather than simply treating the symptoms. By addressing these issues we can restore proper wastewater flow and extend the life of your septic system.
Routine septic tank and leach field maintenance helps keep your system healthy and extend its lifespan. Rite Way’s service includes:
Routine maintenance is one of the most effective ways to prevent premature leach field failure. Excess water usage, sludge buildup, and soil compaction can gradually reduce the system’s ability to absorb wastewater. Regular inspections allow potential problems to be identified early before they lead to costly repairs or system replacement.
When a leach field is beyond repair, replacement is often the safest and most cost-effective option.
When Replacement Is Necessary
When a leach field reaches the end of its lifespan, replacement ensures your septic system continues operating safely. Rite Way handles everything from permits to final install to ensure your new drain field meets state and local requirements and long-term performance standards.
Whether you are building a new home, adding an ADU, or upgrading an older septic system, Rite Way provides professional leach field design and installation tailored to Arizona soil and code requirements.
Our Leach Field Installation Process
If your property requires a completely new system or a replacement for an aging drain field, our team follows a careful installation process to ensure everything is done correctly from the start.
With Rite Way, you get a system built for durability, efficiency, and long-term reliability.

One the years it's always been a pleasure dealing with RiteWay, most recently it was for the annual water heater maintenance. Marco N. was the tech assigned to the job, he was personable, knowledgeable and efficient providing outstanding, neat and complete service. Kudos and five stars to Marco N. and RiteWay!Posted on Alexis StraussTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We own a 720 square foot mobile home. We wanted to install a split system, with existing vents. No vent work required. No electrical work required either. They had a “project manager” aka sales person come out to give us a quote. She was lovely and I really liked her and I know this isn’t her pricing. They quoted us $24,000 for a split system for a 720 square foot mobile home with existing vents and electrical already done. To put this in perspective- a nice split system unit is 3-4k. That means they want $20-21k in labor. Let’s say they send out 3 people and it takes 10 hours, that’s $700 an hour per worker. I work in the HVAC field, so I’m qualified when I say that you’re a HVAC technician not a brain surgeon. $700 an hour is absolutely bonkers. Then they say: well we have a great warranty! If you are paying $20k in labor then you’re actually paying for the warranty, it’s just wrapped up in a bow presented as “free” and “a courtesy”. I had two people tell me RiteWays pricing was outrageous prior to me getting the quote, I should’ve believed them LOLPosted on Matt HazeltonTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Big surprise to see water pouring out from my water heater when I woke up. I called Rite Way first thing and they sent me someone within a half hour. Within 3 hours I have a new water heater installed. This could have been an absolutely disaster but, thank god, Rite Way came to the rescue.

Many leach fields can be repaired especially if the issue involves clogged lines, root intrusion, or minor soil saturation. However, if the system is severely damaged, collapsed, or the soil is oversaturated beyond recovery, a full replacement may be necessary. Rite Way will always recommend the most cost-effective option for your home.
Costs vary depending on the size of your system, soil conditions, depth, and level of damage. Minor repairs may be relatively affordable, while full replacements can be a larger investment. Rite Way provides transparent, upfront pricing and a detailed estimate once we inspect your system.
